Arabic Verb Patterns (الأوزان)
Arabic verbs follow predictable patterns. The most common pattern is Form I (فَعَلَ):
Past Tense Conjugation (قَالَ — He said)

| قَالَتِ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ | The angels said |
Common Verb Forms in the Quran
- Form I (فَعَلَ): خَلَقَ (created), عَلِمَ (knew)
- Form II (فَعَّلَ): عَلَّمَ (taught), كَبَّرَ (made great)
- Form IV (أَفْعَلَ): أَرْسَلَ (sent), أَنْزَلَ (revealed/sent down)
- Form X (ٱسْتَفْعَلَ): ٱسْتَغْفَرَ (sought forgiveness)
