Common Quranic Phrases

These phrases appear repeatedly throughout the Quran. Recognizing them will dramatically speed up your reading:

Arabic	Transliteration	Meaning
ٱللَّهُ ٱلْخَٰلِقُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ	Allāhu l-khāliqu l-ʿalīm	Allah — the Creator, the All-Knowing
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ بَصِيرٌ	Inna Allāha samīʿun baṣīr	Indeed, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing
وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ	wa-Allāhu ghafūrun raḥīm	And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful
فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا	fa-inna maʿa l-ʿusri yusrā	For indeed, with hardship comes ease
وَمَا تَوْفِيقِىٓ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِ	wa-mā tawfīqī illā billāh	And my success is only from Allah
