Arabic Pronouns (الضمائر)

Pronouns in Arabic are used extensively in the Quran. They are divided into detached (standalone) and attached (suffixes) pronouns.

Detached Pronouns

Attached Pronouns (Suffixes)

These attach to nouns, verbs, and prepositions:

  • (ī) = my → كِتَابِي (kitābī) = my book
  • -كَ (ka) = your (m) → كِتَابُكَ (kitābuka) = your book
  • -هُ (hu) = his → كِتَابُهُ (kitābuhu) = his book
  • -هَا (hā) = her → كِتَابُهَا (kitābuhā) = her book
